{Trend Report} Top Three Wedding Trends for 2011

Monday, March 7, 2011

Happy Monday!
I know this blog has been a bit slow the past few weeks but we're back!  It's been a really busy season for SED and we've been working hard on bringing you even more offerings and lots of event and wedding inspiration.
With Spring on the horizon, the 2011 wedding season has officially begun and today we are thrilled to announce our top three wedding trend picks for 2011.

1}  Vintage & Glam - The return to vintage in weddings is here to stay.  Brides are taking cues from what was old and making it new by adding simple modern twist.  Adding touches of glam including luxurious linens and crystals to a vintage themed wedding will truly bring a personalized touch.

2} A Royal Affair  - With the upcoming royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton we are bound to see more influences of regal and grand decor.  Large scale candelabras embellished with beautiful flowered centerpieces accompanied by rich jewel tones make this wedding truly exquisite.  While the below inspiration board features beautiful shades of blue, given the website for the royal wedding, we may see our favorite color purple as a predominant color in this wedding.

3} The Social Network - Social media has become a major part of almost every wedding.  Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn ....  all of these social media tools have had a major impact on every industry.  Couples are using social networking tools to communicate with their wedding party, vendors and also to share their wedding planning experience with their friends and families.  Wedding websites are here to stay, however, now we are seeing couples create Facebook and Twitter pages as well.  - Are you connected? How about this Save The Date FB page?  Clever!

{Trend Alert} Doily In Wedding

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

This week we are focusing on the "romantic" bride.  In February's issue of "Bride's" magazine there was an article about the return of the doily.  The doily is making a come and it's not just for grandma's anymore.  It's design is reminiscent of beautiful lace.

Here are some doily inspiration for all of you romantic brides!
This lovely hanging doily tree would make a beautiful escort card table.

{Trend Alert} Paper Honeycombs are making a comeback!

Thursday, January 6, 2011

{Party Trend Alert}
Over the past couple of months I have been noticing that the paper honeycomb balls have been making a come back in party decorations. Most of us remember them from our parties of the 80's and early 90's (especially those honeycomb wedding bells) but haven't given them a second chance since.  They are perfectly round, fluffy and just plain adorable.  Pairing them up with paper pom poms and/or lanterns creates a beautiful look of varying textures!
Here is a little inspiration for you!

{Preppy Christmas  - Collaboration of Love-The-Day and White Room Events}

{Rice Unconventional Wisdom - With Paper Chains!}

Now go out and re-embrace the paper honeycomb and if you'd like to try and make them, you can find instructions over at Martha Stewart Weddings ---> Here!

{Trend Alert} Pack It Up - Vintage Luggage

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

{Trend Alert}
I am seeing more and more vintage suitcase and luggage pieces making their way into party decorations.  These pieces can be used quite cleverly in many different ways including centerpieces, showcasing desserts, and displaying favors.  They can be stacked to create a beautiful focal point for your event.  Here are a few inspiration pictures that I have rounded up.  These are all from planners and blogs that I truly admire and you will too!

1st Up - Sweets Indeed - Fly Away With Me Dessert Station
This focal point is absolutely stunning!

Next - Cupcakes and Cutlery
Again, lovely stacked vintage luggage and then the suitcase holding the water bottles! Cute!

Next Up - Paper and Thread Studio via Hostess With The Mostess
Favor station!!!

SpaceshipsLaserBeams - Look at this gorgeous dessert table!

Last but certainly not least, Celebrations at Home.

This gorgeous designed French themed birthday party that used luggage to showcase favor station and beautiful desserts!

Where to find these pieces?

This is an awesome resource to rent beautiful vintage pieces to incorporate into your event.

Also, check out your local vintage/antique shops and donations shops such as Goodwill or Salvation Army!
