{Real Wedding} Misty + Solomon : Trash the Dress Session, Dominican Republic

Thursday, September 9, 2010

As promised I'm back with the smoking hot pictures from Misty's "Trash the Dress" session the day after her wedding with the super fabulous photographer Nicole Koester.  I was there for this photoshoot and I will say that I was cringing the whole time. The thought of getting this absolutely beautiful wedding dress dirty just hurt my heart.  Misty assured me that all would be well and after the shoot it was rinsed and I do believe that it will be just as beautiful as it was the day she walked down the aisle.  Here are a few pictures from her "Trash the Dress" session.  They are absolutely breathtaking!

This is when I started cringing!

The most FANTASTIC picture EVER. Everyone thinks this is photoshop.  Trust me! I witnessed this shot and it is OH SO REAL!
Be sure to go on over to NKoester Photography for more pictures and to see the rest of her work. She is phenomenal!

Just in case you missed our post over the weekend, I'm excited to share these sneak peaks from my sister's destination wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  I'm still composing my lessons learned from my 1st (of many I hope) destination weddings but here are the sneak peaks from the bride's "Trash the Dress" session on the beach.  Yes, this is her REAL wedding dress!  I can't wait to see the rest.  These come from photographer Nicole Koester!

Yes, he is flying through the air. I was there to witness this shot!  This belongs in a magazine!

Simply breathtaking!

I can't wait for the rest of the photos from this fabulous wedding!

“Trash the Dress” makes a lot of brides nervous… me too. I admit it. The thought of throwing paint across the beautiful ivory satin that makes up a wedding dress gives many of us hives. But, for the daring couples who treasure a fine art photograph rather than a satin dress, a messy TTD session is great, and I’m totally down with that (much respect). But what about those of you with hives? Does this mean you can’t have an awesome after the wedding day photo session with cool props, awesome locations and nontraditional themes? Heck no! A “Trash the Dress” doesn’t have to literally trash… your dress. What about a photo shoot at a 50’s diner with milkshakes and burgers? What about a metro ride in your wedding day attire, reading the express? Maybe a carnival or county fair… the Ferris wheel could be so fun! Ok… the hem of your dress might be a bit dirty, but that’s nothing a good dry cleaning can’t take care of. My point is, I’m up for any kind of Trash the Dress session YOU can come up with! And the best part… I want to do it for free!
MMP is looking to photograph it’s first official Trash the Dress session with one lucky couple. So here’s my plan…
MMP’s Creative/Fun/Awesome/Adventurous Trash the Dress competition:
Couples are encouraged to submit entries if you are:
1. Willing to put your dress and suit back on for a fun day of picture taking
2. Creative
3. Adventurous
4. Fun
5. Already married
That’s it!

Trash the Dress!

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

The "Trash the Dress" session for brides in their wedding gowns has become a big hit over the past few years.  What are you going to do with that wedding dress after the wedding.  Most brides will preserve their dress with the hopes that one day their daughter would wear it down the aisle.  Honestly, more than likely that won't happen but we can always have hope. I know I do!  I do hope that one of my daughters will either wear my dress or at least have some pieces of it incorporated into her gown.  That's my wish but who knows what the fashion will be like 30 years from now (yes, she can't get married in her 20's).  :)

The "Trash the Dress" photo session is a cute photo session that takes some fun and exciting pictures of the bride in their wedding dress doing things that they would never do on their wedding date or typically even IN their wedding dress. It can get quite risky...but tons of fun and excitement. They could be laying on the ground (even in mud), splashing water, or even UNDER WATER... :)  The idea of going underwater or in the mud in my wedding gown makes me shiver.  However, now brides are now purchasing a second (or sometimes third) dress for their "Trash the Dress" session.  Great idea!

These are photos from an amazing photographer, Nicole Koester that I will be working with in August for my first destination wedding.  I can't wait to see what the bride will look like in the beautiful waters of the Dominican Republic.
