Rule of Thumb When planning the receiving line at a wedding it is important to allocate enough time to greet all guests and stay on your schedule. It takes approximately 20 seconds per guest. For a wedding with 150 people, estimate the receiving line taking about 45 minutes. This plays a key part in planning your timeline for the day.
