Weddings are filled with rituals and traditions. One of the most common traditions observed is, Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue. The bride wears an item from each area representing these special sentiments on her wedding day. However, there is another tradition that is often left off that goes "and place a sixpence in your shoe". The tradition of placing a sixpence in the bride's shoe was to ensure wealth and prosperity. Over the years the sixpence has become a penny which has replaced the phrase with "and a penny in your shoe".
So whether you're wearing...
- Manolo Blahnik
- Christian Louboutin
- Jimmy Choo
- Chunky Heel
- Stiletto

You're right, we've forgotten all about that little bit of tradition! Maybe custom wedding shoe suppliers could come up with a line incorporating a pretty penny in the design!
